A sweet antique Georgian Fede ring beautifully preserved from the early 19th Century. The flower shaped face is dotted with rubies, an emerald, garnet, amethyst, and diamond and together form the acronym “Regard”.
Sentiment rings or REGARD rings were used to express a secret romantic message to their loved one spelt out in gemstones. Regard refers to the phrase “I highly regard you” and shows that your loved one holds you very close to their heart.
The two joining hands are a symbol of love and friendship. They’re known as Fede rings and date back to Roman times and derive their name from the Italian word meaning “Hands clasped in faith”.
The band is all 18ct gold and a rather small size, suggesting it belonged to a child or was worn on the little finger but can be sized if needed. It’s a wonderful piece of history with a lovely sentiment attached.
